From an early age, Gloria Ruth Finney's mother instilled in her the values of doing good for the sake of doing good. As the daughter of a criminal defense attorney, Finney grew up understanding that everyone deserves a chance to have their side of the story told. These very values prompted Finney to pursue her passion for journalism.
Finney packed her bags and traveled west to attend the University of West Georgia. Initially, she pursued a degree in English and Psychology until she realized she was on the wrong path. She joined the campus television station, WUTV, where she gained hands-on experience as a multimedia journalist and anchor. She then switched her major to Mass Communication with a focus on Convergence Journalism and a minor in Political Science. Gloria soon graduated from the University of West Georgia in 2014.
Soon after college, Finney relocated to Bowling Green, KY, where she served as a multimedia journalist for WBKO. However, Finney knew she wanted to do something more, so she packed her bags and moved to Nashville, TN. FInney pursued a career as a music and entertainment journalist, primarily covering prestigious award shows and red-carpet events, including the Grammys, the Soul Train Awards, and the funeral of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Eventually, the road led her back to where it all began in Macon, GA. Finney returned to Macon and currently works as a reporter and occasional anchor at WGXA.
