Emily Macaulay's passion for being in front of the camera has led her on a remarkable journey in the media industry. With the support of her parents and UWG professors, she has demonstrated determination, appreciation, and a strong work ethic across various roles throughout her career, opening doors to countless opportunities.
Macaulay's aspirations of being in front of the camera in the Entertainment industry came with eye-opening realities. WUTV emphasized the importance of excelling at skills behind the camera before getting an on-screen role. This involved setting up equipment, filming one's self, and editing content. Macaulay developed skills of owning one's stories, ensuring accurate information, and mastering the role of a multimedia journalist. WUTV taught her persistence, clear oral and written communication, articulation, and thorough crosschecking of all work.
After graduating in 2014 with a degree in Convergence Journalism and Marketing, Macaulay immediately launched her career as an Advertising Sales Account Executive at Modern Luxury. She initially worked with the Bridal magazine before expanding her role to include the Interior Design category, social media, web and event sponsorships. Her success in these roles led her to Cox Media Group, where she served as a Recruitment Advertising Consultant in the logistics and manufacturing space for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Building on her experience, Macaulay landed a pivotal role as a Senior National Accounts Manager at Surya, a luxury rug and décor manufacturer. In 2022, alongside her responsibilities as a mother, Macaulay decided to step away from media, traveling, and sales. She joined forces with her best friend, the CEO of a local women-owned IT Recruiting Agency called Advanced Tech Placement. Shortly after, she began exploring her passion for Interior Design at Stash Décor in Cumming, Georgia. Macaulay is now happily pursuing her interests in design, channeling her professional and personal inspiration into new creative projects. She partners with the Monat company and, together with her husband, manages an Airbnb property in the beautiful North Georgia mountains.
