Born and raised in Fayetteville, Georgia, Cheyanne Walker was a shy girl who knew from an early age that she wanted to be the voice of the voiceless. She began practicing her skills by creating small news shows, with her sister acting as the meteorologist. Creating almost over 50 10-minute news shows on her fathers’ camcorder. Walker knew this is what career she wanted to do.
Walker began putting her dreams to work at WUTV in 2016, where she auditioned and assumed the role of a news anchor and multimedia journalist for the school’s station. This hands-on experience was crucial in shaping her skills and preparing her for a successful career in journalism. Over the next two years, she gained valuable experience covering live sporting events and community and campus engagements. Walker graduated from the University of west Georgia in 2018 with a major in journalism and a minor in marketing.
After graduating in 2018, Walker began her journalism career as a multimedia journalist at Fox 31 WFXL/ABC 16 WGXA News in Macon and Albany, Georgia. Eager to further her education, she transitioned to New York to pursue a Master's degree in Journalism at Syracuse University. While studying for her master’s degree, Walker worked full-time as a reporter and fill-in anchor for ABC 13 WHAM News in Rochester, New York. Upon completing her graduate studies, she returned to Georgia as the evening news anchor for CBS 44 in Cordele. Recently, Walker decided to give back to her alma mater, WUTV, where she now serves as the Operations Manager and as an adjunct professor at the University of West Georgia.
