The Other Night School Trippin

The Other Night School returns to Carrollton with "Trippin': A Brief Cultural Guide to Psychedelics." Dr. Lisa Gezon, Professor and Chair of Anthropology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, traces the history of psychedelic experiences around the world and explores why humans continue to seek them out.

True Crime in Carrollton Chris Joyner

Chris Joyner, a history alum of the University of West Georgia and current reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, discusses his book "The Three Death Sentences of Clarence Henderson" as part of The School of the Arts Reading Series.

UWG Pre K Graduation and Awards Ceremony

The UWG Pre-K Class of 2023 celebrates the end of the spring semester with an awards night and graduation ceremony. The program featured student performances and class awards presented to both the Blue Pup and Red Pup classes.

Blackwell Prize Winner Elena Pasarello

New York Times critically acclaimed author and Whiting Award Winner Elena Passarello reads from her essay collections Animals Strike Curious Poses and Let Me Clear My Throat. Passarello is the winner of this year’s Blackwell Prize in Writing.

Great Decisions Dr. Salvador Peralta

During the return of the Great Decisions series, Dr. Salvadore Peralta, a professor of Political Science at the University of West Georgia, gave a talk about politics in Latin America for the League of Women Voters of Carrollton-Carroll County.

Bill Roll Lecture Helane Wahbeh

In honor of the late Dr. Bill Roll and his contributions to parapsychological research, the UWG Psychology Program annually hosts the Bill Roll Lecture. Each year, it is presented by a current researcher in the field of parapsychology. The 2023 Bill Roll Lecture is entitled, "The Science of Channeling" given by Helané Wahbeh the Director of Research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University, and president of the Parapsychological Association. Dr. Wahbeh is known for her research on channeling using a noetic approach.
