Chadwick Brock approached every shot at WUTV as if it were his last chance to make a name for himself in the film industry. As a student at the student-run television at the University of West Georgia, a career in the film industry was Chad's top priority. Every production had to be treated as if it were live—because often, you may never get another shot.
Serving as both a Technical Director and Producer at WUTV, Brock was responsible for directing newscasts and producing a successful video game show. These roles became more than just college experiences—they were the foundation of his professional mindset. He embraced the philosophy instilled in him: treat every newscast like a live broadcast. That urgency, that precision, became second nature.
After graduating in 2014, Brock auditioned for a role with TNT Sports. The skills and instincts he developed at WUTV paid off—he was hired as a pedestal camera operator. It was during 2023 Actor / Writer strikes, Brock's experience at WUTV was invaluable while working with TNT Sports: Inside the NBA. His career began to gain momentum as he transitioned into larger professional environments, bringing with him the same live-production discipline he honed during his time at UWG. Brock’s background at WUTV continued to prove essential even during the 2023 Actor/Writer strikes. While working on Inside the NBA for TNT Sports, his instincts from the WUTV newsroom kicked in. During his camera operator interview, producers pulled up a graphic with an anchor, and without hesitation, Brock anticipated a slight pan for the over-the-shoulder box—an automatic response born from his newsroom training. Post-strike, Brock has worked on the soap opera Beyond the Gates and the sitcom The Ms. Pat Show. Both productions use technology similar to that of a news control room, including switchboards to live-cut between cameras. This approach condenses the editing process and relies heavily on the crew’s ability to execute live-style filming—yet another arena where Brock’s WUTV experience shines.
Most recently, Brock works as an independent contractor for Warner Media Discovery’s TNT Sports talk shows and Tyler Perry Studios. Both companies request his availability when scheduling projects, and he juggles his time to accommodate them. He’s been working on Tyler Perry’s show Young Dylan, a job that continues through mid-August. Perry has recognized his reliability and skill, hiring him for back-to-back productions. His time split between UWG Film and WUTV gave him the flexibility to adapt to a variety of roles across an industry that continues to evolve. Whether it's sports, sitcoms, or soap operas, Brock's foundation in live television has become a crucial asset. What started as student broadcasts have transformed into a professional philosophy—treat every moment like it’s live, because in this industry, the next shot might just be your last chance to get it right.
